Prof. Dr. Sabina Yeasmin has held the esteemed position of Dean at the Open School of Bangladesh Open University since October 2016. Demonstrating exceptional skills in academic management, she was granted an extended 2nd term as dean by the University authority. Proficiently weaving technology into education, she introduced the concept of 'paperless open schooling' in 2016, a visionary move that proved invaluable during the COVID-19 pandemic. A trailblazing leader, Prof. Sabina's legacy lies in her adventurous spirit and her impactful contributions to higher education programs at the Open School. Over her six-year tenure, she skillfully incorporated a range of programs into the academic portfolio, including Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Master of Business Administration (MBA) with Bangla instruction, as well as Master of Criminology and Criminal Justice (MCCJ), Master of Disaster Management (MDM), Master of Development Studies (MDS and Master of Environment and Climate Change (MECC).
Over the past couple of years, she extended niche markets for the Open School, fostering collaborations in regions like the Middle East, South Korea, and Italy to cater to non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) as niche 2. She has successfully aligned the Open School with the government educational policies and stepped on the amplification of the Niche 3 market, achieved through partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to provide skilling programs for those who are Not in Employment, Education, and Training (NEET) with funding arrangements established in conjunction with the World Bank. Her journey in academia began in 1996 as a Lecturer of Home Economics at the BOU Open School. With a passion for knowledge dissemination, she has authored over five textbooks and penned more than 40 research articles published in various esteemed journals and conference proceedings. Prof. Sabina's academic pursuits are underpinned by a solid educational foundation.
She earned her BSc honors and MSc in Home Science with First-Class from the Home Economics College, affiliated with the University of Dhaka. Furthermore, she earned an MPhil degree in Gender Studies from the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies from the same University. Her academic journey culminated in a PhD degree in Distance Education from the Indira Gandhi National University, New Delhi. A globetrotter with a quest for knowledge, Prof. Sabina has visited over 20 countries to participate in international seminars and conferences.
Her global perspective is further amplified through her active memberships in various national and international academic associations, a testament to her commitment to shaping the future of education.
