Prof. Dr. Md. Iqbal Husain

Dr. Iqbal Husain (ড. ইকবাল হুসাইন) was born on January 5th, 1979, in the village of Sreenibashkathi, located in the Muksudpur Upazila under the district of Gopalganj, Bangladesh. He is the third son of Md. Zaynal Abedin and Rokeya Abedin. Dr. Husain is married to Sapna Shamon Hema, and they have a son named Mujib Monon. He is a Bangladeshi citizen by birth and follows the Sunni branch of Islam. Dr. Husain strongly believes in the principles of the Bangladesh Liberation War and embraces a progressive, non-communal ideology.
Dr. Husain embarked on his professional journey with a non-governmental development organization. From 2005 to 2012, he served in various capacities at Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), a renowned anti-corruption organization. In July 2012, Dr. Husain commenced his academic career at Bangladesh Open University (BOU) as an Assistant Professor of Sociology. In May 2018, he was promoted to the position of Associate Professor, and in April 2023, he attained the rank of Professor (Sociology) at the Open School, BOU.
