Bangladesh Open University (BOU) was established in 1992 with a view to imparting education to all, especially the deprived group or the less fortunate group. Open learning is different from traditional classroom teaching but the examination system is as like as the traditional one. The few exceptions in comparison with the traditional system are follows

Getting chance of appearing in the examination of a course minimum three-time and above ( as per program regulation)

Getting the chance of improving his grade point.

Chance of achieving the certificate/degree by completing the required courses within the registration time of the program.

The option of appearing in the exams of a particular semester.

The examination division makes the arrangement of holding exams of BOU across the country. Nearly 1000 exams center are operated by exam division. The examination division makes arrangement of holding 42 examinations of 22 academic programs of BOU in an academic year. Public examinations like SSC, HSC, BA/BSS, BBA, BBS etc. are conducted thorough the direct supervision of district administration. All the exams of BOU held in Friday postal department has made the arrangement to keep open the post office for the posting of answer scripts of public exams on Friday. The examination division of the BOU processes the results of its academic programs through the computer. All the reports regarding the examination are generated from the computer by particular software. Original & provisional certificates, Mark sheets etc are printed by the computerized system. A group of expert officers and staff are working in the examination division. The examination division is trying to do its best for the Students of BOU. We are expecting that the examination division will be able to provide the highest efficiency by the guidance of the authority shortly.
